Darden Burns is a musician, piano teacher, wife and mother of two daughters.

Biography

Darden Hanson Burns lives on Bainbridge Island in a beautiful spot overlooking Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier where she and her husband Michael built their home and raised their daughters Caitlin and Amelia.

A musician by training, Darden teaches piano lessons to young people and directs the concert series "First Sundays at the Commons". (www.firstsundaysconcerts.org). She is president of Bainbridge Community Piano Association and a certified teacher of the Music Teachers National Associtation. Darden attended Carleton College, Cornish College where she received the Bachelor of Music degree, Aspen Music School and Seattle Pacific University where she studied music education. She has performed extensively as a collaborative pianist with instrumentalists and vocalists. In addition to her work as a classical pianist, Darden improvises and arranges popular and jazz music, plays the folk guitar and sings.

Darden became ill with a chronic undiagnosed health disorder in the fall of 1973. Her symptoms have included extreme fatigue, headaches, eyestrain, insomnia, adrenal exhaustion, food and drug sensitivities and beginning in 2001 muscle pain and dysfunction(fibromyalgia). She has aggressively pursued numerous therapies including biofeedback, herbs & nutritional supplements, acupuncture (Classical Five Element, Japanese & Chinese styles), Feldenkrais training, cranial sacral work, rolfing, chiropractic care, NAET, neurobiofeedback, hyperbaric oxygen, jaw cavitation surgery, Wilson's Thryoid Syndrome, Relaxin hormone therapy, EECP and detoxification therapies and has worked with some of the most outstanding practitioners in the alternative health field. She was a patient of Dr. Paul Whitcomb from April to July of 2007. She started Oral Systemic Balance treatments with Dr. Farrand Robson in September 2007 and started LENS neurofeedback in August of 2009 - both therapies contributing significantly to her recovery.
